The day was conceived and set up by the Ministry of the Environment in collaboration with the Spreco Zero campaign and the University of Bologna. On that occasion, on the initiative of the PINPAS coordinator Andrea Segrè, the "General States" of the Italian agri-food chain were convened.
PINPAS, promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, is the national plan to prevent food waste to make people aware of food waste. From 2014 to the present day the national food waste prevention day is an opportunity for the dissemination of new data by the Waste Watcher National Waste Watcher (Lmm / Swg).
