Piazza Gae Aulenti, the beating heart of Milan

Piazza Gae Aulenti has been the new beating heart of Milan for some years now. Dedicated to the homonymous Italian designer and architect, it is an elevated circular pedestrian square, raised about six meters above street level and dominated by the UniCredit Tower. The latter, with its 231 meters high at the spire, is the tallest skyscraper in Italy, a symbol of a growing Milan on many fronts.

Piazza Gae Aulenti was inaugurated on December 8, 2012. The square was named after the famous designer's death (October 31, 2012).

Piazza Gae Aulenti was designed by César Pelli (1926 - 2019), an internationally renowned Argentine architect. He was responsible for the master plan of the Porta Nuova Garibaldi Project.
