20 June
Refugee Day

The United Nations International Refugee Day is celebrated on 20 June to commemorate the approval in 1951 of the Convention relating to the status of refugees by the United Nations General Assembly. It was celebrated for the first time on June 20, 2001, on the fiftieth anniversary of the aforementioned Convention.
Each year the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) selects a common theme to coordinate celebratory events around the world.
In 1914 the World Day of Migrants and Refugees was established by the Catholic Church, which is celebrated every year in January, on the second Sunday after the Epiphany.
