World Day for Combating Desertification
The world day for combating desertification and drought is a celebration of the United Nations that is celebrated every June 17th. The day was proclaimed January 30, 1995, by the General Assembly of the United Nations through resolution A / RES / 49/115.
Its purpose is to introduce new ways to prevent desertification and recover from drought. Each year a different theme is proposed.
